OCIA Shelf

About OCIA Shelf

OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, formerly RCIA) is how adults become Catholic. People going through it often ask the same question: what should I read, watch or listen to?

This shelf collects the answers. It is compiled, edited, and vibe coded by a parish priest of The Catholic Diocese of Spokane. Almost every entry came from real, public recommendations: Reddit threads where inquirers, catechumens and catechists shared what helped them, plus published parish reading lists and Catholic resource guides. Where a resource was recommended in a specific source, its card links back to it under "Recommended by."

Links were checked. Pages that returned "not found" were removed, and links that didn't load cleanly are marked. Books link to their own site or to Open Library, a free, nonprofit library catalog.

This list is not an official catechetical program. Your parish OCIA team is your best guide.

OCIA Shelf Picks

A few resources are marked "OCIA Shelf Pick". These are editor-chosen resources we think belong on the shelf, but for which we could not find and verify a public recommendation. We will link a source as soon as we can verify one.
