Voices of the Saints: A 365-Day Journey with Our Spiritual Companions

by Bert Ghezzi

Three hundred sixty-five days. Three hundred sixty-five saints. Bert Ghezzi, a Catholic author, gathered a saint for every day of the year in this devotional, first published by Loyola Press in 2009. Some are household names. Others you've likely never heard of. All of them fought the same battles you do.

The book's best move is in its title. Each entry lets the saint speak, through quotations from their own writings, the recollections of witnesses and the work of biographers. Each entry closes with a Scripture verse or a prayer. Ghezzi built in several ways to find your saint: chronologically, alphabetically, by feast day, or by theme, such as conversion, forgiveness, humility or miracles. Patronages and dates of beatification or canonization are listed where available. A later edition from Word on Fire (2024) runs all the way to St. Carlo Acutis.

It suits catechumens and candidates hunting for a confirmation saint, anyone who wants a short daily reading, and readers who learn best from lives rather than lectures. Read today's entry with your morning coffee, and by next year you'll have met 365 saints.
